On the trail of manganese

Iron and other ores have been dug for centuries in the Thuringian Forest. Until the deposits were exhausted or extraction became too laborious and unprofitable. In Arlesberg there is a remnant of this time, the Brausteinmühle, which can now be visited again and, with a bit of luck, reveals a lot of its history.
