In September 2024, after 75 years, city selection teams from Sonneberg and Neustadt will meet to commemorate a legendary match between their football ancestors. In the summer of 1949, directly on the inter-zone border (the Federal Republic of Germany was only a few weeks old, the GDR had not yet been founded) in front of 15-25,000 spectators, both teams played not for points or medals, but for the unity of Germany...

Weather as desired, attractions as ordered and guests as hoped - the city and museum festival in the 675th anniversary year of Sonneberg's city charter is record-breaking due to the variety of events and the flow of visitors.

Similar to the famous principality, the racing cars whiz through the middle of the city at the Sonneberg motorsport event. Not quite as loud and not quite as fast as in Formula 1, but the drivers and spectators are no less passionate.
